After a frustrating morning of waiting for Mike and Joe to get on the ball and get the fax sent off to the CA DMV. I called DMV just as “Doris” was heading to lunch, but “Jessica” was sweet enough to help me. She verified receipt of the fax from Grapevine RV of the Customs paperwork. She said that she would “clear” the file to be sent on to the next department, which is the “Control Cashier” to be double checked and scanned in, THEN it goes to have a new American California Title created!! It COULD take up to four weeks. However; Jessica said that’s what they have to tell us, but it “might” not take that long. Yikes! That could be two weeks too long!
I called Elizabeth at Southeast Financial right away, but had to leave a message. She called me back at a little before 14:00. She said that she truly thinks it will all be ok. I explained our situation to her and how much longer it still might be and she was very understanding. She said that she would explain to the lender and that it should be ok, even if we happen to go a little past the next 2 weeks. Whew!! She really made us feel a lot better! HOWEVER; the truck’s driver side front window is NOT working again. It was a problem when we first checked out the truck and was suppose to have been fixed, but it didn’t take long for it to stop working again. The part, the motor for the electric window, is going to cost around $70. Joe tried to make a deal with me and say that he would pay for the labor if we paid for the part. : | Ummm… NO! Take it out of Mike’s commission. I wasn’t going to argue about it in front of “Whitie”, the mechanic, but we will surely have a debate about it tomorrow! Tomorrow, when we go to pick up the RV.
After getting the customs papers and talking to DMV and Southeast, we feel pretty good about picking up the Alpha tomorrow. Mike and Joe really, really need the space. They want our Alpha gone. They are loaded up with RVs and are getting another one tomorrow. Tom was hesitant to bring it home before everything is “signed and sealed”, but after today, we feel a bit better. It’ll be so nice to have it here!
We can’t wait! We have so much to learn! Tom is so nervous about driving and towing the big monster! haha
