When I wrote the entry on Friday, it was at work when I had finished what I was doing. After I had said I was going to call DMV, I did. I was lucky enough to talk to Jessica again and she told me that the license plate and the registration had been mailed out on March 13, 2014 and that we should be getting them any day. Geez! That’s already been 8 days! Just to get from Sacramento! (Only a 5 hour drive!). I think even Pony Express would have been faster! Jessica also said that the title would be mailed out on March 28th. Hmmm, that’s two days PAST our deadline and if it takes as long to get to Southeast Financial in Nashville, as it did to get to us in Lebec from just Sacramento, it could be weeks! Well, I sent an email to Elizabeth to relay the information that Jessica gave me and we received a nice and encouraging email back from her, so we are hoping (still) that it will all be ok even though they’ll be receiving the title after the deadline.
After I left work, I made my daily stop at the post office to pick up mail and low-and-behold, our license plate and registration for the Alpha was there! Hurray! I took a picture and sent it off to Elizabeth. It was already after hours for her in Nashville, but she’ll have it on Monday morning. On the registration it shows Southeast Financial as the lienholder, even though, that will have to be corrected because they really aren’t the lienholder.
Saturday, Tom had a radio remote in Bakersfield and so afterwards we went to Sam’s Club to buy two new batteries for the Alpha. We got two 6v golf cart batteries; it’s supposed to be better that way.
When we got home, we hooked up the new batteries and plugged the rig in to charge them. We also decided to put the slides out. We had a little accident. Uh oh! The basement door was open under the bedroom slide and “crunch”, the cap on the slide rail end cracked and broke a couple little pieces off! Good thing I had bought some white duct tape the other day. I have a feeling it’s going to come in handy! While I was repairing the slide end cap, Tom went in to the bedroom to pull the bed down. Uh oh again! Only one of the hydraulics under the bed was going down. I went up there to help and finally (somehow) we were able to pull it down. We decided that we should stand at the middle of the foot of the bed to pull the bed down and not push it down at the corner.
Tom has been working on setting up a website for us for our RV life adventure. It’s called tomandloriRVLife.com. It will be fun having our own website, posting a journal, pictures and videos, etc. I’m so excited and can’t wait to be able to tell everyone and share our excitement!
