RV LIFE – Wednesday, March 12, 2014

We got “some” good news today.  Joe from Grapevine RV called me to let me know that Mike’s trip to Long Beach was successful today to get both the truck and RV cleared through customs.  Now, first thing tomorrow, Joe needs to get the papers faxed to DMV.  He is supposed to call me as soon as he faxes it so that I can call the DMV lady, Doris (I think it is).  I’ll need to beg, bribe, etc. to see if we can get it all pushed through before our deadline which is March 26th!

Mike and Joe said that we could bring the Alpha home on Friday, but Tom doesn’t want to do that for fear that there may be more paperwork problems or delays and our time runs out with Southeast.  We have to keep our payment on the RV around $250 and no more than that.  It would really help if I could get a steady paycheck.  Hopefully soon!   He really wants to get the truck and rv both paid for, well, a lot paid on them before we hit the road.

I’ve been reading RV-Dreams Journal every day and it just really makes me want to be out there already.  I know we still have a LONG way to go though!

We are still at a deadlock on the paperwork being finalized for the Alpha.  There seems to be one thing after another.  Waiting for copies of the Canadian’s passports; then needing paperwork proving that the Canadian was/is the owner of the business that the Ford Trucks’ title was under; needing a power of attorney for Mike to conduct business on behalf of Joe for American Car Company; and who knows what else!!

So now, we are hoping that our loan approval is extended for at least another month so that all the DMV crap and customs crap can get taken care of.  Mike isn’t going back to Long Beach until Wednesday, which was our deadline.

On Sunday, Tom and Daisy and I went to the RV to go hang out in it, but all of the slides were in and we didn’t have electricity to slide them out, plus they (Mike and Joe) have all the RVs packed in there pretty tight. Joe actually told me today that we can bring the RV home on Thursday or Friday if Mike gets the customs paperwork taken care of on Wednesday.  I didn’t tell Tom, just in case something else goes wrong.  I’m just really hoping that it all works out and we’ll have our beautiful new home in our yard soon.

We are now getting more and more discouraged, worried, upset, and angry.  We are really trying to be patient, but it is tough when we keep running in to road blocks!  The situation right now is that the registration and title are being held up at the California DMV awaiting customs paperwork for BOTH vehicles!  Mike said that the dealer DMV office he goes to didn’t ask for the paperwork from customs when he went there on February 10th and turned in the Dealer’s Bill of Sale and Canadian Titles.  So, now he is waiting for a call back from customs to find out if he actually has to physically take both vehicles down to Long Beach to be processed and obtain the proper paperwork for the DMV to process the registration and issue an American Title.  In the meantime, our time is running out on our loan offer.

Yesterday we actually got an email from Amanda at Southeast Financial saying that, “They are sorry that we chose to not proceed with their loan offer.”  What???  Tom freaked out and so I forwarded it to Elizabeth at Southeast Financial that we’ve been working with and that had already extended our loan approval due to the problems.  She emailed back right away and confirmed that we were extended and to disregard the email from Amanda.  Whew!!

It seems that nothing can ever go smoothly for us.  There always has to be a problem and road block or delay or stress!!  Ugh!!  I guess that’s what helps keep us strong!  Yikes!  Haha!

I just really hope that it all works out and that we can still get THIS fifth wheel.  We love it and it really seems like it will work out for us for living in full time.  We just get more and more excited every day, especially with all the researching, reading, and watching videos that we do.

It does feel better though when something crappy happens at work, that we have the comfort in knowing that we have an exit strategy!
